LEXINGTON, Va. Dec. 18, 2024 — The Building BRIDGES Club, in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Opportunity and Inclusion, and Preston Library at 香港6合彩开奖结果, hosted a holiday card making event Dec. 9 in the post exchange.

According to Col. Valentina Dimitrova-Grajzl, professor in the Department of Economics and Business and faculty co-advisor for BRIDGES, the club has held the annual event since 2020, when they wanted ways to engage the local community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the club invited Lt. Col. Catharine Ingersoll, associate professor in the Department of English, Rhetoric, and Humanistic Studies, to lead the workshop. Ingersoll demonstrated the art of linocut, a printmaking technique in which a sheet of linoleum is used as a relief surface.

Nearly three dozen cadets, faculty, staff, and community members made over 200 cards. The cards were later delivered to seniors isolated at home, and to those living in assisted living and skilled care communities by Melissa Sayre, Rockbridge County coordinator of the “Be a Santa to a Senior” program. Additionally, cards were mailed to residents at the Davis & McDaniel Veterans Care Center in Roanoke.
